2009 Gymnastics U.S Nationals

Bridget Sloan won!
She's the new U.S National Champion. I'm quite happy about this. I don't really know yet if I like Birdget's type of gymnastics but her routines are great!
I don't understand if her gymnastics is more graceful like Nastias or powerful like Shawns/Sams but thats ok,well I'm happy.
On Night 1 she did a great bar routine with a new skill (usually done on male high bar) and she performed a great floor and vault, but she fell off balance beam on her switch-turned leap.
On Night 2 she did an awesome competiton and she nailed every skill on every event, from bars to valut, everthing was perfect.
I've prefered if
Ivana Hong won because now that she's moved to WOGA she improved really a lot and I think it was the best choice she could ever made.
Anyway she finished
2nd,that is very important for her to be selected on the 2009 National Team.
Her type of gymnastics is really clear to understand, graceful, precise and elegant that is the style I like best. She did a great competition,no one mistake on every event, she was very consistent on balance beam (with a similar routine to Nastias) and on floor with a brand new FX. Her vault was not so great on Night but on Night 2 she stuck the landing on her DTY. Her bar routine is still her wickest one but not so bad,it's quite simple with just a release move, but on Night 2 she did a great job and she stuck the landing also on her double layout dismount.
3rd went the new senior WOGA girl Rebecca Bross who was the leader on Night 1 and I expected she won before her two big miastakes on bars and beam.
On Night 1 she did a great competition apart a mistake on her Patterson dismount on beam (one of the most difficult in the world to do). She was first on bars with a great routine, she flew so high on her Jager. The floor was also great but she did a step out of bound anyway she earned a big score.
On Night 2 she did an half disaster-competition because she started with a fall off the unven bars, before she lost her hand after her Jaeger release move and then she slip after her Pak Salto. I was really sorry for her, she's now one of the best gymnast on bars, behind Nastia Liukin who didn't perform them and she was able to win the title (on bars at least) if she had not fallen.
She did also almost the same mistake she did on Night 1 on her beam dismount, and she had to do some big steps to stand.
Despite this she did a great floor and she stuck the landing on vault.
In front of her home crowd perfomed on her second time since she bacame the Olympic Champion, the National/Home hero:
Nastia Liukin.
She did only one event, the balance beam. First she thought to do two events, bars and beam but then she felt that she was not ready to do bars yet and she declined that event.
On her first night she said she was very nervous and she made some wobbles here and there and the routine she performed wasn't at her highest level like at the Olympics. She changed her 'Liukin' signature skill with a simple side-aereal and she did only a two-twists dismount instead of her classical two and a half-twists dismount.
On Night 2 she did better and she wore a new purple leotard that I loved. I think it wasn't her best yet but of course she said there's nothing to hide she's not in her best shape but she's training full time every day and I'm optimistic and I'm sure she will be back as the same Nastia as we knew.
Anyway she ended
4th on beam.
An other note about the fantastic
Sam Peszek. She did only three events because of a shoulder injury, but she said it doesn't hurt unless she did release move on bars. Indeed she didn't do bars. She perfomed an amazing beam routine both Nights with no one wobble. It was a really solid exercise and finshed third on that event. She did also a new great floor routine and a pretty good vault. I think she will be at Worlds as a specialist on FX and BB. She deserves that place on team because unfortunately for the world of gymnastics she won't be anymore an elite gymnast but she will compete for UCLA Bruins.
